Information about Foracort 200 Rotacap

Foracort 200 Rotacap is a medication used in the management of asthma and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). It is a combination inhalation therapy that contains two active ingredients:

Active Ingredients

  1. Formoterol Fumarate: A long-acting beta-agonist (LABA) that relaxes the muscles in the airways, helping to keep them open and making it easier to breathe.
  2. Budesonide: An inhaled corticosteroid that reduces inflammation in the airways, helping to prevent asthma attacks and control COPD symptoms.

Indications

Foracort 200 Rotacap is prescribed for:

  • Asthma: For the regular treatment and control of asthma symptoms in adults and adolescents.
  • COPD: To help manage and control the symptoms of COPD, including chronic bronchitis and emphysema.

Dosage and Administration

  • Dosage: The typical dose is one rotacap inhaled twice daily, but the exact dosage should be prescribed by a healthcare provider based on the patient's condition and response.
  • Administration: Foracort Rotacaps are designed for use with a Rotahaler device. The rotacap should not be swallowed.

Instructions for Use:

  1. Insert the Rotacap: Place the rotacap in the Rotahaler device.
  2. Pierce the Capsule: Twist the Rotahaler to pierce the capsule and release the powder medication.
  3. Inhale the Medication: Breathe out fully, place the mouthpiece in your mouth, and inhale deeply and forcefully.
  4. Hold Breath: Hold your breath for a few seconds to allow the medication to reach deep into the lungs.
  5. Rinse Mouth: After inhalation, rinse your mouth with water and spit it out to reduce the risk of oral thrush (a fungal infection).
